CYO girls flag football in the news!
PARENTS: Contact your parish CYO (KS) AD/DSM or PLKC (MO) PLKC AD for registration, practice, coach, team, uniforms information.
Regular Registration: Jan 19–Mar 15
Late Registration: Mar 16-Apr 12 / CLOSED
Program Duration: Mar 4–May 18
Season runs Apr 6--May 18
Games played on Wed and Sat (other weekdays as needed)
Locations: Bishop Miege, Prince of Peace, and St James Academy
6 game season (5 game guarantee)
Girls grades 3 rd - 8th Divisions dependent on registration totals for each grade.
CYO will attempt to accommodate athletes also participating in Track but assurances cannot be made due to field availability.
7 players on the field 7v7
For more information on practice times, uniforms and any other parish specific questions please reach out directly to your parish AD/DSM.
All parishes will host their own teams other than as indicated below:
Ascension will host Saint Michael and Holy Rosary Wea.
Prince of Peace will host Saint Paul.
Saint Agnes will host John Paul II.
Saint Patrick will host Christ the King, Holy Name, Our Lady of Unity, Resurrection, and Xavier.
FAQ's
- Is there a minimum or maximum number of girls on a team?
7 players will be on the field at a time. We recommend a team size of 9 or more.
- What are the divisions?
Divisions can vary year to year depending upon the registration mix. Generally there are combined grades split between five divisions.
- Can they play with less that 7 if someone gets hurt or is sick?
You can start the game with 5 or more players. The other team is allowed to play with 7 players.
- Are there playing time requirements?
While there are no play time requirements, our goal is to assure all athletes enjoy the season.
- Are numbers required on the jerseys?
Yes, on the back of the jersey at a minimum adhering to NFHS uniform rules.
- What size footballs will they use?
Pee Wee balls will be used at all levels for Girls Flag Football
- Will there be an end-of-season tournament?
There is not an end of the season tournament.

Saint James Academy Facility Use Rules
-NO parking in the back gravel by students
-NO parking along the back drive by ANYONE especially on game days!
-NO jumping the fence (multiple repairs already)
-NO animals allowed at any time
-DO not leave benches on the track
-DO not get mud on the track or the turf.
-Please have everyone use the black track protector when walking across the track
-Track athletes, NO track spikes on the turf
-Only players/coaches are allowed in the fenced area. Attendees must sit outside the fence.
**In case of snow on the field or the track DO NOT try to scoop it off with your team. The maintenance crew will use a brush to clear the field. You must contact Mike Medina for assistance. We had over 10 rips in the turf we had to repair this summer.

Girls Flag Football General Information
Q: When does the season begin and end?
A: Late Mar - Mid May. Check with your AD/DSM for information regarding practices.
Q: Who can play and when are games typically held?
A: Girls grades 3-8 (assuming there are enough teams to form a league in a particular grade or combined grade), games on Wednesdays and Saturdays (other weekdays as needed)
Q: How many games in a season?
A: 6 games season (5 games guaranteed)
Q: Does the parish provide uniforms?
A: Yes. Contact your parish Director of Sports Ministry AD/DSM.
Q: When are practices during the week?
A: Practice starts Early March. Contact your parish AD/DSM for details. CYO is not involved with parish practices or tryouts.
Q: Do coaches receive any training specific to football?
A: Only Head Coaches are required to complete online USA Football certification. Click here for more information: USA Football
